Trust Digital Wins Best Enterprise Security Application Award from Handheld Computing Magazine

PDA Secure Named Best Among Applications Designed to Safeguard Corporate Data Stored on Handheld Computers

SANTA CLARA, Calif., Feb. 8, 2002 –Today at PalmSource, the annual gathering of Palm OS® platform developers, PDA Secure has been named Best Enterprise Security Application by Handheld Computing Magazine during its Best Palm Powered™ Products of the Year for 2001 ceremony on Thursday. The annual awards showcase the year’s best Palm Powered products, and are chosen by the magazine’s editorial staff. Products are evaluated on the basis of innovation, design, accessibility, and appeal.

Trust Digital’s PDA Secure application was rated the best in its category because it solves a variety of security problems inherent in mobile computing. Since handheld devices can easily be lost or stolen, it is necessary to ensure that sensitive data is well protected. PDA Secure adds the ability to guard mobile information with multiple passwords and strong encryption technology, including AES, Triple DES, RC4, TwoFish, and BlowFish.

“We’re thrilled to be recognized for our work ensuring that sensitive data stored on handheld computers is as safe and secure as possible,” said Kevin Shahbazi, Trust Digital’s vice president of marketing. “With more and more corporations deploying handheld technologies to their mobile employees, we are committed to further enhancing PDA Secure to address future security concerns as well.”

Also at PalmSource, Trust Digital has been showcasing its new Secure Card application, designed to protect the data stored on expansion memory cards commonly used with handheld computers. Secure Card provides users with options for encrypting a single or multiple files, or the entire card. Users are afforded the opportunity to determine how data is converted into “ciphertext,” the unreadable text that is viewed on the device’s screen before it is unlocked by an authorized user, by choosing from a variety of encryption algorithms. Secure Card uses the same encryption engine as provided by PDASecure to provide a strong and secure environment to protect data stored on expansion memory cards like SD/MMC cards, IBM Microdrives and Handspring modules. This release of Secure Card is significant since it supports both Palm OS and Pocket PC devices and files can be easily transferred from one device to another in encrypted form.
