Trust Digital Launches Secure Card at PalmSource Conference to Enhance PDA Security

New application expands on award-winning PDASecure to protect data stored on expansion cards

SAN JOSE, CA (February 5, 2002)…Today at PalmSource, the annual gathering of Palm OS platform developers, Trust Digital LLC is unveiling its new Secure Card application designed to encrypt data stored on an expansion memory card. As more companies are arming their mobile employees with proprietary data, much of which becomes stored on expansion cards, the need to protect that data should it become lost or stolen has never been greater. Secure Card is a part of Trust Digital’s award winning PDA Secure family of applications, most recently the winner of Best of Show at Planet PDA and a Finalist for Best Security Product at COMDEX.

Secure Card provides users with options for encrypting a single or multiple files, or the entire card. Users are afforded the opportunity to determine how data is converted into “ciphertext,” the unreadable text that is viewed on the device’s screen before it is unlocked by an authorized user, by choosing from a variety of encryption algorithms.

“While the amount of data that companies are providing to their employees seems endless, the amount of storage space on handheld devices is not, which is why the vast majority of Palm Powered handhelds now offer slots for expansion memory cards,” said Kevin Shahbazi, Trust Digital’s vice president of marketing. “Storing confidential corporate data on expansion cards may be a space saver, but it is also a security threat since the cards are small and easily lost or stolen. Secure Card expands our PDA Secure line to ensure that data stored on expansion cards cannot be breached by unauthorized parties.”

The PDASecure™ product line from Trust Digital, protects PDAs against internal fraud and theft, sabotage, malicious hacking and helps an organization against legal exposure to the compromise of personal customer data. The PDASecure Enterprise™ and PDASecure Policy Editor™ are also designed to work with the desktop PC security product ForeverSecureÔ, also from Trust Digital, to provide a total security solution for an enterprise and the devices connected to it. Specific features and functions can be studied in detail at the Trust Digital web site (http://www.TrustDigital.com).
