Genentech Using Home-Built iPhone Apps For Daily Business Functions iPhoneCTO, 8/2/09 By Tony Peric A couple weeks ago, I sat down with Genentech to understand how they are leveraging iPhones to enable their salesforce by not only providing the devices, but by developing iPhone applications that you will never see in the App Store. GigaOm, 7/22/09 By Jordan Golson Apple, at the iPhone SDK launch last May, began a big push towards getting the iPhone into the enterprise — the traditional stronghold of the BlackBerry. Google's vice president of engineering, Vic Gundotra, recently touted the advantages of applications delivered through the browser as opposed to a separate online storefront. Increasingly, he sees their doctors carrying two devices – a Blackberry that IT provides and an iPhone that the doctor purchased. This is a classic case of the consumer/prosumer bringing their iPhone to work. I asked the IT director why doctors were digging into their own pockets to pay for the iPhone and he said that two things were driving it. Read more. Still want to learn more?
